The sculptoric training of Cristino Mallo starts in the School of Fine Arts and Trades of Aviles. In 1923 he enters the Academy of San Fernando and the School of Arts and Trades of Madrid being a disciple of José Capuz and Julio Vicent. In 1931 he signs the AGAP manifiesto (Gremial Association of Plastic Artists and in 1933 he receives the National Prize of Sculpture with Desnudo con pez. (Naked with fish) Shortly afterwards, he gets a teaching post in the School of Fine Arts and Trades of Salamanca.

After the Civil War, which he spent in Madrid taking part in the Alliance of Antifascist Intellectuals and the magazine El Mono Azul, he keeps teaching in the School of Fine Arts and Trades (1966-1972) and carrying out works as relieves for buildings or the fountain Los Delfines(The Dolphins) Madrid. In 1973 he is appointed member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, a seat he will not occupy. The sculptoric work of Cristino Mallo had not many variations, he was immersed in figurative themes of folk matters (female nudes, children, sportsmen, etc.) his works are of small size in which modernity is perceived through the dynamic expression and the unpolished surfaces.
