After starting his studies of Industrial Engineer and Law he enters the Academy of Cecilio Pla and goes to the Academia Libre de Julio Moisés (Free Academy of Julio Moisés) where he meets Dalí and Benjamín Palencia; besides, he gets in contact with the ultraist movement.
After his presentation in the Exhibition of the Sociedad de Artistas Ibéricos (Iberian Artists Society) in 1925, which marks his career, Francisco Bores moves to Paris, where he starts a new stage and the boom of his artistic career. In 1927, hired by the Percier gallery, he realizes his first individual exhibition. Through Picasso he starts his relations with the art critic Tériade, who dedicates a long article to him in Cahiers d’Art. In 1929 he displays in the exhibitionPintores and escultores españoles residentes en París (Painters and sculptors resident in Paris), that takes place in the Botanical Garden of Madrid, and during those years he collaborates with such avant-garde magazines as Litoral, La Bête Noire, Martín Fierro, etc.
Two years later, he carries out an individual exhibition in the Georges Bernheim Gallery of Paris, at the same time he signs a contract with the Swiss director of an art gallery Max Eisherberger. In 1932 and 1933 he exhibits in the Vavin-Raspail gallery of Paris, at the same time a monograph of his painting is published .
Around the middle of the thirties he is contracted by the Zwemmer gallery of London to realizes an individual exhibition. His work is influenced by the cubism of Picasso and sometimes, by surrealism and abstraction.
Francisco Bores became a master in the use of colour, sometimes following abstract criteria, to a point of substituting a drawing or a line at defining the objects, figures and the space where they are inserted.
There is a clear tendency to the experimentation with colour, which makes him indulge chromatic semitones. In this period, he defined his painting as ”lyricism and sensuality […] within an organized Composition in favour of an analogous synthesis to the impression produced by a visual instant”.
With the outbreak of the Second World War he gets back to Paris and starts exhibiting in several galleries. In the fifties he keeps displaying his work in numerous European galleries. From those years, Bores, does not only choose a poetic, lyric and abstract register to express his interpretation of reality, he also alternates different visions of objects, which he defines with the strength of colour and biodimensionality.
